Research internship R&D – Innovation in Extrusion Technology

VMI R&D offers an enthusiastic and inspiring working environment. VMI R&D has a lot of facilities for doing tests and collect data.

You will be working in the R&D Extrusion Cutters & Flexx department with 23 colleagues. This group consists of 9 Mechanical Engineers, 8 Control Engineers, 2 Electrical Engineers, a Release Engineer, 2 Technical Projectleaders and a trainee.

We are looking for an intern who will conduct a concept study for a quick-change mechanism that can remove the die from the front of the extruder head. The assignment includes the following tasks:

• Determine the user requirements (User Requirement Specification).
• Make concept proposals (Morphological overview; Kesselring analysis; Reviews etc.).
• Basic engineering of the chosen concept.
• Simulations in Solid Works.

• A Mechanical Engineering student (bachelor or master).
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently.
• You are looking for an internship from September or February.
• You are available for at least 5 months, for 32 to 40 hours per week. It is possible to work on the assignment partly from home.

In addition to our own internship program, you will have the opportunity to participate in a Master Class at Perron038.

These Masterclasses are organized each time by different companies and relate to soft skills, but can for example also be about LinkedIn, project management and job application tips.

Various technical companies work together here in the field of Technology and they share knowledge and experiences with each other in an inspiring environment.
